Tell me if this sounds familiar: you go to a client shoot expecting the lighting to be immaculate. You arrive on location and to your horror, the sun is beating down on your subject, making their skin super shiny. How can you fix this?
It's super simple. All you need is a polarizer filter. With this on the front of your lens, the light can be evenly diffused across your subject's skin. Redistributing the light smooths out their skin, creating a soft professional look straight out of camera.
But that's not all this filter can do. Next time you take a time lapse of the ocean waves at a beach or a waterfall, slap on a polarizer and watch the magic unfold. The light is evenly distributed resulting in a dreamlike fog for moving water.
